Many families aren't aware of the high school graduation requirements. In Virginia students may graduate with a STANDART DIPLOMA or with an ADVANCED DIPLOMA. What is the difference?
SHORT ANSWER: The standard diploma requires 22 credits while the advanced diploma requires 26 credits. Here is a link to the Depart of Education website. REMEMBER, we should try our very best to place our children in an academic platform they can shine. One way to shine is to obtain an advanced diploma. Some students may not be able to obtain an advanced diploma, and this is alright! Let's highlight the in other ways, such as playing sports, being fluent in a foreign language, having a leadership role in a club, and volunteering in the community. These are just a few examples, but it's all about finding their gift and helping them to shine with it.
